FALL FESTIVAL
IN SCUGOG

Scugog hosted a two-day Farmer’s Market along Perry St. on October 4 and 5, with hundreds of people taking advantage of the event to browse through vendors goods and to enjoy demonstrations. Pictured here are just some of the activities.

Taking part in the pumpkin decorating workshop, right, was Mayor Marilyn Pearce and her grandson Alex.

Visitors attending the Port Perry Farmer’s Market in October included two-year old Shaelyn, on the cow, and her father Mike Blake.

Scarecrow winners announced
during Fall Festival

Scugog certainly welcomed its share of colourful characters over the past month. We’ve seen Queen St. decorated with dozens of imaginative scarecrows, part of Meta4’s annual scarecrow contest, and of course there was Halloween with all its little witches, goblins and strange characters.
Pictured here are just a sampling of some of the many scarecrows that were judged earlier last month.

From top, Best Business – Trading Post’s, “Tom and the Trading Post Turkey Gobbler.”

Most Original scarecrow was an entry by Pam Hollet called “Haymate Of The Year.”

Best Interpretation of Title or Theme - Majik, for “Break and Enter”.

Best Community Group - Scouting’s “Join the Adventure”.

Honourable Mention to Focus on Scugog for “Focus on Heritage”.

Other category winners were... Best Traditional - Set the Table and Best Family Entry - Jesse, Leslie & Owen Rogers.
In addition, judges awarded Honourable Mention to the following entries: Mr. X by the Rowett family, Stonemoor After School program for “Recycled”, the McQuaig Family for “Our Scarecrow Family” and the YMCA for “Kickin’ It Old School”.
