COMMUNTIES
IN BLOOM
SCUGOG
TOWNSHIP
For the second consecutive year, Scugog has received the maximum “five bloom” honours in the annual Communities In Bloom competition, for communities across the province.
Scugog placed first in it’s division (20,001-50,000 population),
receiving the highest “five bloom” rating. The town of Essex, in southwest Ontario came second with four blooms.
The township was also the recipient of a special award for the condition of it’s turf and ground cover. Councillor Bobbie Drew, in
announcing the awards, praised parks staff for their efforts, especially since they had to battle dry conditions for most of the summer.
This was the third year Scugog Township has competed in the competition. They earned ‘four blooms’ the first year and the prestigious ‘five blooms’ for the past two years.
