A large crowd gathered at Port Perry’s lakefront on January 8 to see some
of Scugog’s bravest citizens take off their clothes for charity. This is the fourth
year for the annual Polar Plunge and although numbers were down this year, with
22 brave souls taking he plunge into the icy waters of Lake Scugog, the enthusiastic
group were able to raise $9,500 for the local Hospital Auxiliary.
After the plungers dried off and warmed up, there was an awards ceremony
at the Latcham Centre nearby where plungers and supporters were treated to
homemade chili, hotdogs, desserts, hot chocolate and coffee. Each plunger got a
souvenir mug, a certificate of appreciation, and plenty of cheers.
