SOCCER COMES
TO PORT PERRY

FUN DAY ON QUEEN STREET
AS SOCCER BALLS ROLL

A soccer celebration of World Cup proportions took place in downtown Port Perry on Saturday, July 10, when the Scugog Soccer Club and local Business Improvement Association teamed up with the Durham Region Soccer Association for a competitive soccer and family fun day.

With the World Cup as a backdrop, the Scugog Soccer Club and the Region Soccer Association (DRSA) hosted three rounds of the prestigious Ontario Cup tournament July 10 and 11 at the Scugog Soccer Fields.

Some of the best female soccer teams from across Ontario, including five from Durham Region gathered for the U16 and U17 divisions.

Members of the Port Perry Business Improvement Association (BIA) opened their doors under the World Cup country banner of their choice. There was a festival atmosphere for all ages with interactive soccer activities and live World Cup action.

According to DRSA President, Ron Smale, “This was the first time three rounds of Ontario Cup tournament play have been held in one location, and it was a great opportunity to showcase some of the best teams in the province playing on some of the premier fields in Durham Region.”

The Downtown World Cup Celebration was just one of the many exciting events taking place in Port Perry throughout the summer.
