Palmer Park and Queen St., Port Perry was packed by an estimated 700 people on Friday,
November 19 for the Port Perry BIA annual Candlelight Walk & Tree Lighting Extravaganza.
Moms, dads, kids and grandparents gathered in front of the gazebo in Palmer Park to get their
candles lit and then joined a procession walking along Queen St. to Reflection Park, where they took
part in the giant tree lighting.

Christmas carols rang out along the street, Santa and Mrs. Claus were busy handing out candies to
the kids and a couple of Santa’s reindeer were even on hand to the delight of the youngsters.
Following the tree lighting, the crowd shifted back to the front of the post office where a smaller
tree was lit and a choir provided entertainment. And of course there was the popular
marshmallow roast, as well as hot chocolate and cookies provided by
Coffee Cultures.
